About Noisy Note and the person running it

Hi, I'm Ethan

I've lived in Doña Ana County my whole life. I play drums, guitar, and sing, I front a country band, and I've spent most of my adult life either on a stage or behind a mixing console at one. Noisy Note is the business side of that: live sound, lighting, hosting, and audio production for events around Las Cruces.

I graduated from NMSU in 2019 with a degree in Music Business, with an emphasis on live sound and post-production. That program put me in front of real ensembles early. I've run sound for the Las Cruces Symphony Orchestra, the NMSU Jazz Band, and the NMSU Choirs, and I studied recording under Christian Robles at Seacoast Recording Studio.

How I approach a gig

I've mic'd punk bands and I've mic'd opera singers, and the goal is the same: the performer should hear themselves clearly, the audience should hear the performer clearly, and nothing should squeal. Getting there is mostly about picking the right mic for the room, tuning the system before the doors open, and paying attention the whole night.

Being a musician myself changes how I work. I know what it feels like to ask for more vocal in the monitor and get a shrug. You won't get that from me.

I'm also comfortable on a mic in front of a crowd, so if your event needs a host as well as an engineer, I can do both.

Outside of work

When I'm not running sound I teach in Las Cruces public schools, which is a big part of why email is the best way to reach me during the day. The photo in the banner on the home page is the view from a trail on the edge of town with my two dogs. It's why I've never left.
