Here's what I do, who it's for, and what you can expect. If your event doesn't fit neatly into one of these, email me anyway. Most of the interesting ones don't.

Live sound for bands, singers, and speakers

This is the core of Noisy Note. I bring a PA sized to the room, a 16-channel console, mics and stands, and I run the show start to finish. That covers:

  • Full bands with drums. Kick, snare, overheads, bass and guitar amps, keys, and up to a handful of vocalists. The console has enough inputs for a five- or six-piece with room to spare.
  • Solo and duo acts. Acoustic guitar and vocal, keys and vocal, looper setups. Quick to set up, easy to sound great.
  • Comedy and drag shows. The whole night lives or dies on vocal clarity. I use mics chosen specifically for loud, feedback-prone bar rooms and I ring out the system before the first act.
  • Speakers, panels, and ceremonies. Lapel or handheld mics, a podium mic, playback for slides or music, and someone paying attention so nobody has to say "is this on?"
  • Acoustic ensembles. Choirs, string groups, jazz combos. Light reinforcement that supports the room instead of taking it over. I've done this for the Las Cruces Symphony and the NMSU Jazz Band and Choirs.

I've mic'd everything from punk bands to opera and Broadway singers. Whatever your act is, I've probably run something like it.

Stage lighting

Most of the rooms I work in around Las Cruces are bars, breweries, patios, and halls that were never built for shows. A few color washes and a front light make a huge difference in how the performers look and how the audience feels. I carry LED par fixtures that can be set to a static look for the whole night or changed between acts. Lighting is an add-on to a sound booking or available on its own if you already have a PA.

Hosting, MC, and event production

Some events need a voice on the mic as much as they need someone behind the board. I'm comfortable hosting, introducing acts, running announcements, and keeping a lineup on schedule. I've produced and hosted recurring comedy nights and drag shows at Little Toad Creek, which means I've handled the whole picture: booking the order, the timing, the walk-up music, the sound, and the room.

Recording, audio for video, and post-production

My degree emphasis was live sound and post-production, and I studied under Christian Robles of Seacoast Recording Studio. Beyond live events, I can:

  • Record a live show as a multitrack or a clean board mix
  • Provide PA and clean audio feeds for video shoots and livestreams (I've done this for Sportsvideos.com and an NMSU music video with Ross Marks)
  • Edit, mix, and clean up audio for video, podcasts, and demos
  • Help you set up a podcast from scratch. I interned at KRUX 91.5 and started their podcasting division.

Questions people usually ask

How much does it cost?
Every event is quoted individually. What moves the price: how long the event runs, how many performers and inputs there are, whether you want lighting, and how far I'm driving. Email me the date, the venue, and the lineup and I'll send a written quote. No obligation, and I'd rather tell you a real number than a vague range.

What's included?
The PA, the console, microphones, stands, cables, and me. Setup, sound check, the show, and teardown. You don't need to own or provide anything unless you want to use your own equipment, which is fine too.

Where do you work?
Las Cruces, Mesilla, and all of Doña Ana County with no travel charge. El Paso, Deming, Alamogordo, Silver City, and the rest of southern New Mexico for a small travel fee.

How big an event can you handle?
Comfortably up to a couple hundred people indoors or a small outdoor crowd. For bigger rooms or festival stages, I'll tell you up front whether my rig fits or whether you need more than I carry. I'd rather lose a booking than under-deliver at one.

How far ahead should I book?
Two to four weeks is comfortable. Weekends in spring and fall go first. If it's last minute and the date is open, I'll make it work.

Do you work with the venue's existing system?
Yes. If the venue has a house PA, I can run it, supplement it, or replace it depending on what's there and what shape it's in.
